Nicolas Flamel (circa 1330 or 1340 - 1418) was a 14th-century Parisian
bourgeois, public writer, copyist and sworn bookseller. His fortune, amplified
by rumor, made him a mythical alchemist who succeeded in his quest for the
philosopher's stone, which would transmute metals into gold. Because of this
reputation, several alchemical treatises are attributed to him from the late
15th to the 17th century.

Written in France towards the end of 1750 and published in London in 1806. The
original document was handwritten by Nicolas Flamel in a coded alphabet of 96
letters. It was written in secret and intended solely for his nephew.
